Ugh! Saturday make-up days for holidays majorly suck in Taiwan. Since we had an extra day off last week during Dragon Boat Festival, the Taiwanese government has people make up the day the following Saturday. Lucky David didn’t have to work.
The week was grueling! Nonetheless, the weekend was still awesome.
Sabrina invited us to join her on a surf outing. The company ( JSP Surf Club ) that we went with was having some super specials this weekend. Bring one other person for half off– transportation, board rentals, lunch, lessons, and free towel. David and I met up with Sabrina and Angela in Science Park to be picked up in a mini van. I have no clue where we were driven to, but it’s somewhere north of Taipei.
The guys with the company were all really nice. Our main instructor was actually from Indonesia. We chilled a bit under the tent before starting up our lessons that consisted a bit of laying on the board and popping up to stand.
Soon we were set for the water — the sand was so hot and the boards were huge. We used the blue practice fun-boards. The water was ultra calm, but the teachers were all really good about reading the tides. We were actually able to stand up and ride quickly to the shore. So many crashes though!!
Hilarious! The water was ultra salty and the sun extra hot. There were also a lot of big shells for me to collect. I hope to someday actually make something of them… but until then they will sit in m Choco Cakes box.
It was a really fun day and I’m glad we made it out there. Got extra sunburnt on my back though! I had my shirt on for the first half of the day then took it off. Plus surfing left us soo sore the next day! No wonder all the guys were so in shape. Very tempting to buy my own board to play with at our own beach :).
